Getting stuck? It’s totally normal
Clipp was designed for gentle, progressive weaning. Its unique clip-on collar system helps children gradually reduce their sucking habit while keeping their comfort item. But as they reach the final stages – collar 4 or 5 – some children hit a block. Don’t worry – it’s a common (and temporary!) phase.

Why is this stage the hardest?
The first few clipp don’t change the sucking experience much.
But by collar 4, the tip is shorter, suction is reduced, and the pacifier may even fall out at night.
Your child might:
- Drop it in their sleep (and wake up unsettled)
- Resist moving on to the final collar
But here’s the good news: this means Clipp is already working. If your child finds it less soothing, they’re on the right track.
How to support your child – gently
1. Celebrate their progress
Remind them: “You’re nearly there!” or “You’re so brave!”
2. Adjust the pace
One week per clipp is a guideline – but every child has their rhythm. If they need more time at one stage, that’s okay.
3. Use the Clipp weaning calendar
It’s the perfect moment to bring it back out:
- Tick off the days together
- Prepare the certificate
- Visualise the finish line
4. Keep bedtime routines soothing
Stories, cuddles, quiet moments…
These create emotional safety without relying on the pacifier.
Even stuck = success!
If your child is using collar 4 or 5, they’re likely not sucking through the night anymore. The dummy may fall out more often – which is good! That means they’re already detaching from their pacifier, little by little. Even if they still have it during the day or bedtime, the oral impact is much reduced. In fact, their teeth and tongue are already starting to return to a more natural position – even with Clipp still in use.
When they’re ready… they’ll let go
Many parents are surprised by how suddenly their child lets go of Clipp – sometimes overnight!
Some choose to stay at collar 4 a bit longer. Others mark the end with a celebration, even if the dummy still has symbolic value for the child.
